Research and Development

NCA supports research and development (R&D) in the creation of a safe and reliable Cyberspace. NCA collaborates with other national entities to promote innovation and investment in cybersecurity.

R&D efforts are being focused on high-priority areas. The aim is to address the challenges faced by Saudi Arabia in light of its Vision 2030 national ambitions. This involves the transformation of R&D outputs into practical products and services.

Efforts are being taken to localize cybersecurity technologies, increase the competitiveness of the local industry, and direct national capabilities to developing localized cybersecurity products, services, and solutions.

R&D support efforts driven by NCA include:

 


 Preparing a national cybersecurity R&D roadmap which identifies high-priority areas


 Carrying out qualitative studies and research in cybersecurity and related technical fields to guide and support national policies and strategies


Improving existing technologies and producing new ones to support cybersecurity operations 


  Stimulating scientific research and innovation by harmonizing the efforts of national entities, universities, research centers, and international bodies

 

Organizing joint events and competitions to promote research and innovation

 Incubate and develop cybersecurity projects

Encouraging innovation and investment  
NCA is developing the cybersecurity market in Saudi Arabia by supporting local and international companies, SMEs and startups. It aims to position Saudi Arabia as a hub for cybersecurity innovation and has established programs for market development, innovation, and investment. 

These include:

CyberIC Innovation.

NCA has launched the CyberIC Innovation program, in partnership with NEOM, to stimulate the growth of the cybersecurity sector, encourage innovation, and support startups in the Kingdom.

The initiative aims to empower innovators and entrepreneurs in cybersecurity and help them turn their ideas into market-ready products. It looks to attract local and global investment to the Saudi cybersecurity sector and contribute to its sustained growth.

 

Cyber Security Accelerator

The Cybersecurity Accelerator Program, part of the CyberIC program, is a 12-week program that supports the growth of cybersecurity startups .

It provides mentorship, training and resources to help startups deliver innovative solutions that protect Cyberspace.The program connects startups with local and international investors to ensure they have the support and incentives needed to succeed. 

The Cybersecurity Challenge 

 was launched in 2021 by NCA in partnership with Monshaat and the Saudi Information Technology Company (SITE). 

The competition aims to support innovators and entrepreneurs in cybersecurity to establish promising startups that will enhance the cybersecurity sector in Saudi Arabia.

A key initiative launched under the National Program for Research, Development, and Innovation (RDI) in Cybersecurity to fund researchers, experts, and students at various stages, nurturing broader-scale advancements in cybersecurity RDI and leaping the development of promising cybersecurity innovations.
